Danish Nationals will take place in Lumby this weekend. Card Leaders will do live coverage of that event. Ole asked the defending champions of the three age divisions for an interview. This is the interview with 11-year-old Robert who won Danish Nationals in Junior Division last year.

Playing the Pokémon TCG since: 2009
First Nationals played in: 2009
Favorite deck of all times: Gengar / Vileplume

Hi, Robert! You are the reigning Danish Champion in Junior Division. How did you manage to win Nationals last year?
At last year national I played a standard TDK deck with a Landorus Promo tech. I knew last year was my last year in Junior Division so it was my last chance if I wanted to be National champion in that division.
I started preparing as soon as the new set was revealed, by testing against every deck I expected to playing against. I went undefeated through the event so I was very happy my hard preparation payed off.

As a National Champion you qualified for Worlds 2013 in Vancouver. Did you participate and how did you perform there?
Yes I went for the world championships in Vancouver and I played the same deck as I did at nationals with a few smaller changes. I started the tournament pretty bad with a loss to Klinklang, but then managed to win my next five games. In the last round I lost to the guy that later become world champion.
I finished Swiss rounds as number 13. In top 16 I lost against Klinklang again in some very close games that went to time in the last game at the score 1-1 in games. My final placement was number 13.

For sure you want to defend the title this year. How did you prepare for Nationals this year?
I will do my best to defend the title this year but I know it will be much harder after I moved to the Senior Division. I have prepared the same way as last year, by choosing my deck early and test against the other decks I expect to play against.

Thank you for the interview and good luck for Nationals!
