Danish Nationals will take place in Lumby this weekend. Card Leaders will do live coverage of that event. Ole asked the defending champions of the three age divisions for an interview. This is the interview with 12-year-old Jesper who won Danish Nationals in Senior Division last year.

Playing the Pokémon TCG since: 2007
First Nationals played in: 2008
Favorite deck of all times: Jumpluff / Claydol + Techs

Hi, Jesper! You are the reigning Danish Champion in Senior Division. How did you manage to win Nationals last year?
I did a lot of play testing with my family who all play. I played TDK – Thundurus-EX / Deoxys-EX / Kuyrem. I just play tested every day with my family and learned my deck and its matchups.

As a National Champion you qualified for Worlds 2013 in Vancouver. Did you participate and how did you perform there?
Yes I participated and I actually didn’t do that well I finished 64th with a record of 4-4. I played the same deck as for my Nationals as I knew this deck the best. I might have managed to finish in top 32 if I would have won the last game. Unfortunately I lost to Blastoise in the last round.

For sure you want to defend the title this year. How did you prepare for Nationals this year?
I did the same as last year and play tested with my family. I also read a lot of articles about other decks in the format we have now.

Thank you for the interview and good luck for Nationals!
